MALTESE FALCON MODEL!

This is a nice example of a circa 1936 Ronson touch tip table lighter with small face watch- made famous by being featured sitting on Sam Spade’s desk in the Maltese Falcon-and so, one of the most sought after touch tips ever made. RONSON STREAMLINE TOUCH TIP TABLE LIGHTER
TORTOISE  ENAMEL ON CHROME

Shown here is a 1930s design Ronson Streamline touch tip table lighter in the second most common finish- tortoise enamel on chrome. One of my personal favorite touch tip designs, it features a larger reservoir than the Octette and will provide lights for a long period of time between fillings- and it is a very sleek deco design. Quite a heavy piece for its size, this one is in overall really nice condition-has no scratches in the high gloss black enamel usually seen on these 70+ year old pieces- It has a brand new felt bottom pad to protect the furniture. It has its original wand and wick holder with new wick material to serve you for a long time. It has been completely overhauled and works like new- lights first time every time just as it should. Overall it is a really nice looking piece that doesn’t really show its age- so it’s a great user that will serve you well for many years- a great collector piece and a great present for that special someone- even if that is YOU! These are getting harder to find- especially in this condition- as there has been a recent uptick in the popularity of these touch tip pieces despite all of the national furor about smoking among the politically correct!

RONSON TOUCH TIP LIGHTER WITH SMALL FACE WATCH
MALTESE FALCON MODEL!

This is a really really nice example of a circa 1936 Ronson touch tip table lighter with small face watch- made famous by being featured sitting on Sam Spade’s desk in the Maltese Falcon-and so one of the most sought after touch tips ever made. And after close examination- the piece was never used- the felt sleeve in the reservoir is white- never had a burned wick in it! It is finished in tortoise enamel with an ivory enamel ring around the face of the watch. As is the norm with all the lighters I sell- I went through the mechanics to be sure it was in excellent working order- lights first time every time and is perfect for everyday use. The watch is also brand new- not a mark on it- so I’ve run it for about a week now and it gains about 7-8 minutes every day- which is as good as these New Haven “dollar” watches ever were. The piece is all original including an inverted cone wand with new wick material as the material I use lasts many times longer than the original Ronson material- and a new felt pad on the bottom. The enamel on the ring is intact in great shape! It has been mishandled at some time in its life as there is one bald spot on the upper left of the front of the body- and a small ding on the spark wheel cover- but with the rest of the piece being as nice as it is I felt it best to leave it rather than try to do a touch up and end up making it worse. Overall- a great piece- rarely if ever in this “as new” condition.

It is figure 182 in the 2000 Ronson book and rated rare — price for this piece is $850 including Priority Mail postage anywhere in the US. Comes with a copy of an original Touch Tip instruction sheet and a nine pack of new production Ronson  Firebronze flints- best for these older pieces.
